Remarketing or retargeting have the same meaning.

It is a form of online advertising in which you show ads to people who have already visited your website once

  • You target people who have proven interest
  • Cheap(er) way to advertise

What is remarketing?

You visit a website, watch a video on Youtube, respond to a Facebook post, and then one or more times you see an ad from that company.

That’s remarketing.

Is it disturbing? Not when it is set up properly. It makes no sense to show someone an ad for a product or service when it has just been purchased. Therefore, make sure that people who have performed a certain action are excluded from further communication. Plenty of opportunities remain to show people who have shown interest an ad, with or without a special offer.

Remarketing can be done for specific campaigns (Facebook ads seen) for specific products (blue sneaker viewed) for specific channels (website visited via seo) and so on. If you handle remarketing smartly, you are more likely to secure new leads or customers.
